Smithsonian Institution BUILDING Revitalization
THE GREAT HALL: Ambience
This project also contained media-related planning for the Great Hall visitor experience.
Created Great Hall Visitor Center Interim Plan before major renovations on the original Smithsonian Institution Building, honoring sustainability and accessibility within a tight budget and historic preservation constraints.
Led collaborative one-year experience design with the Special Advisor to the Secretary and over 30 staff members. Conceptualization and visualizations reflect the interior relationship with the gardens outside, and the original purpose of the building - the study of natural history.
Working with a 3M innovation team, hanging scrims recreate the room's original balconies and divert sunlight away from theatrical lighting and onto plants and solar chargers, using cutting-edge deflective materials. Designed to coordinate with the UNESCO Year of Light.
Actionable plans for device management and iPad content, coordinated merchandise, solar charging for visitor phones, etc. and other media-related planning for the Great Hall visitor experience.
Not produced due to staffing changes.
